Hopefully, you are familiar with what the Foundation does. (In case you need a refresher, visit our About page) Today, I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce you to who we are by telling you about the Foundation staff.
In addition to its volunteer Board of Directors, the Foundation has a paid staff comprised of an Executive Director and an Executive Assistant.
I am Sid Johnston and I was appointed Executive Director of the Foundation in September 2003. Prior to this appointment, I served since 1999 as the Foundation’s Executive Director of Administration and as Business Administrator of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth. I have been serving the Church for 21 years, with 16 of those years being devoted to the Foundation. Before joining the staffs of the Foundation and the Church, I was the business administrator of the First United Methodist Church of Lubbock, Texas since 1991. Prior to entering the field of church administration, I worked in the banking and securities industry.
I am also a Fellow in Church Business Administration and have served as President of the local chapter of the National Association of Church Business Administration as well as on the national association’s board of directors. I have served on the board of directors of the United Methodist Association of Church Business Administrators. I was also a past president of the Fort Worth downtown Rotary Club and remain very active within Rotary today.
I graduated from Texas Tech University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. A native of Plainview, Texas, I’m married to Danette. We have two daughters, Tiffany (age 32) and Jennifer (age 27). In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, golf, and traveling.
Teresa Tysinger joined the Foundation staff as Executive Assistant in August after serving for a year as Communications and Public Relations Director of the United Methodist Higher Education Foundation in Nashville, Tennessee. Prior to that, Teresa served six years as Director of Communications at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Worth. She also served from 2004 – 2012 as Coordinator of Media and Communications for Christ United Methodist Church in Greensboro, North Carolina. While in North Carolina, she also served on the UMC District Communications Committee.
Teresa is a member of the Religion Communicators Council, Association of Women in communications, and is a Certified Communications Professional. In addition to working full-time for the Foundation, she is a published author as well as a freelance graphic designer, editor, and communications consultant.
Teresa graduated from Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, North Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Professional Writing in 2002. She earned a Master of Arts degree in English/Editing and Publishing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2007. Teresa lives in Fort Worth with her husband, Eric, and daughter, Emma (age 11). She enjoys reading, writing, cooking, and traveling.
